I am a Human Being

I am a person

I breathe

I eat

I drink

I walk

I think

I feel

I love

I cry

I speak

I am one human being

There are other humans in the world

They breathe

They eat

They drink

They walk

They think

They feel

They love

They cry

They speak

We make up the entire world

Why must we murder one another

Why must we hate another for their appearance

I am a human being and I didn’t choose to be born the way that I am

There are other human beings in the world and they did not choose to be born the way that they are

Made a page for my photos

You can check it out HERE if you’d like, seeing as how I don’t post too many of my photos on this blog.

I’ve been busy lately, which is why I haven’t posted much, just subbing some English classes while the main instructor is away on vacation in Cambodia (perma-summer, awesome).

School starts for myself next week, so I will try to post on a more regular basis…and for those of you who prefer Wordpress, you can find my musings HERE as well.

This has been an update.

:D

Constellations

Her green eyes stared back at him, but they were empty now. He no longer saw soft pale lakes or a beautiful forest or even the emeralds he often compared them to. He saw nothing that meant anything to him. He stood there, on the porch, as the night air nipped at his skin and pulled at his bones… he couldn’t be there any longer. He began walking. He walked past her, and her possessions, and out of her house, and out of his old life. He didn’t look back; he didn’t even come close to looking back. He had to get as far away from his old life as possible. His feet hit the concrete sidewalk hard and his pace quickened. He grew faster and faster, until he was practically running.  His mind moved his legs more rapidly than they could go.

House after house whispered by like a dream. The soft glow from each radiated in the dark night. The glow of these homes told tale after tale of late nights, family dinners, and TV movies. He quickened his pace once more.

He had nearly been walking for three hours now. However, he saw nothing had changed. He was in a new town with new people, new shops, and new cul-de-sacs, but everything was the same. He passed the same homes, he walked the same streets, and the same cars seemed to pass him as if they were just on a continuous loop. He began to wonder if he was on a continuous loop. With his newfound bewilderment at the lack of change from one town to the next, he began to fear. He feared that if the homes were the same, and the cars the same, and the shops the same, the people had to be the same too. By now his muscles ached, his eyes watered, and his mouth was dry, but he could not stop walking. He could not stop walking, because he hadn’t gone anywhere. Everything was still the same.

His pace had slowed, his breathing had grown heavy, and his body was fading. He was no longer walking through sleepy one-horse towns, he had ventured onto isolated country roads. He had not seen a sign of human life in two hours. He was unsure if the lack of civilization stemmed from his location, or from the time of night. Suddenly, he planted his left foot wrong and he stumbled, this was his quick decline. The loss of his balance coupled with his onset fatigue ushered him onto a downward slope off the road and into a patch of shrubbery. After twisting and turning he finally found his temporary resting place, lying flat on his back staring up at the sky.

He lied there, with his gaze set firmly on the stars. His eyes darted across the night sky, reveling in the clarity. He called upon all of his strength to raise his right hand to the sky and trace the stars. He spoke aloud as his fingers found constellation after constellation “Ursa Minor, Ursa Major, Orion’s Belt.“. And then he began to weep. Frailly he whispered between sobs “Nothing has changed”.

Do you ever just want to cry for humanity? Do you ever feel as if people attack others too much? Or that people who try to do right for themselves and their life are met with backlash and an inordinate amount of closed-mindedness? People hate too much on their fellow human beings, and honestly, sometimes, I am just so appalled. I am by no means naive to what goes on in this world, and I understand the full capacity of power games, societal manipulation, and who is really pulling the strings of “power.”

But how can it be that so many want to destroy one another? How can it be? While there are many lovely human beings who fight for people’s rights, many do not understand just exactly how powerful we are. We ARE powerful. We CAN be in control of our lives and how we want society to be. It starts with ourselves. It starts with one person. It truly does. Never let anyone tell you any different. Because the worst thing you can do is feel helpless about what is in your own power.

FIND like minded people, because now, more than ever before, it’s made easy for you. Platforms and opportunities to share your opinions. Discuss. Talk. Speak. Share. Write. Just don’t stop.

To Feel Ourselves

I want to touch the other side. I want to feel what I have always been missing. I want to dance among the others who revel in their flames. I want to feel their fire that burns. We walk slowly towards the place of our death, but I want to make my path known and lit up for everyone to see. I don’t want to be another in the crowd. I don’t want to get carried away by another’s destiny. We reach out, fingers extended, hoping to only touch another. To desire a mark on one another, and to stretch that mark out onto the world. I could cry forever if my lightning was to be taken away from me. Feel the pull. Feel the resistance. Feel yourself.

No Rest

There’s something out there in the dark lurking to swallow you up and make you feel whole. You feel the fear. You tremble at the night. It’s something you’ve never tasted before. It’s a place you’ve never been before. Mystery. And, ooh, the intrigue. It’s easy to choke on your fear. It’s easy to run away. But you catch a glimpse of what has been hidden from you all along. One step closer to never turning back. Sometimes it feels good to step outside of what you already know. It feels so right to feel so wicked. The chase of life. The shadows. The truth. It’s been waiting for you.

I just want to stay in bed all day, watch True Blood and be warm and cozy…. Sigh.
Yessss!

If I could have just one moment with you, that would make eternity okay. It would make everything okay. It would make not seeing you ever again worth it because it would be one moment that would change my life and change me forever.

Things I have learned from a job #2:

You can always, ALWAYS, ALWAYS contact your Human Resources office if you are being harassed, bullied, or have an issue with your boss that you are uncomfortable dealing with them one-on-one.

I had a boss from hell, and wasn’t able to go to her with issues I had with her because she would become defensive and rude. I went to Human Resources with a complaint, and a few days later another manager from a different store told me that was wrong. Knowing that she could get into serious trouble if she was telling me NOT to go to Human Resources, I asked this question: “Are you telling me NOT to go to Human Resources?” Her response was, “No.”

I haven’t seen the movie horrible bosses, but I have STORIES to tell you. All my own. All original.

But, coming soon, a glorious quitting post from that very job!

Don’t get me wrong, I made wonderful friends with everyone at this job. And my “boss from hell” was once a dear friend. However, power and money turned her awful. And because she would walk all over people and treat them like dirt, I couldn’t sit by and let that happen. My mom, may she rest in peace, taught me to stand up for myself and for others who lacked the confidence to defend themselves. She taught me that if you’re not happy with something, to change it. And I learned quicikly about how to deal with power plays at work. It isn’t always a pleasant world, and people WILL walk over you to get to the top.
